This is me:

My name is Martin Scharm. I founded CODE AHOI in the beginning of 2020, as I felt the urge to advance, but was not sure where to go :)

I earned a Master's in Bioinformatics at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg and received a PhD in engineering at the University of Rostock. In addition, I have 13 years of experience as a system engineer. I am a scientiest, a developer, and a system engineer — how does that go together!? Very well, actually! I manage to successfully combine these roles: as a scientist I love to experiment with novel technology, that I use to develop exiting products, which I optimise as a system engineer with respect to performance, availability, and security.

I love challenges and I am eager to gain experience in new domains!

And this is how I got here

System Engineer at the University of Rostock

Acquisition, installation and maintenance of hard- and software; monitoring; configuration management; designing, supervision, and operation of projects

MTZ®-Award for Medical Systems Biology

My dissertation received the MTZ®-Award for Medical Systems Biology

PhD Studies: Systems Biology at the University of Rostock

Funding of the BMBF

I raised funding for an e:Med project

Research stay at the University of Manchester

Development of methods for detection and mapping of provenance information about computational biology models

System Engineer at the University of Rostock

Webserver, version control, maven repository, (No)SQL databases

Science2020 Intern at the University of Oxford

Development of a web-based application for the online simulation of computational models

Research exchange at the Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne

In-silico-exploration of highly cross-linked peptides and proteins; Molecular modelling, molecular dynamics simulation

System Engineer at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg

Administration of users, network, web, database and mailserver, monitoring

Studied Bioinformatics at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg

Research focus: Analysis of expression and sequence data, image processing, pharmacy, biochemistry
